wow! Have you seen Burberry’s new peacock feather coat priced at 33 thousand dollars!

Now, I don’t know what you guys think about this, but…with it looking like that? I won’t wear it even if it was fake feathers.

Maybe I’m not so with the fashion trends these days. I don’t know. 

By the way, peacocks are GORGEOUS  creatures that are endangered mostly in India because of poaching, indiscriminate use of pesticides and the carelessness of laws that punishes whose who kills for their feathers. 

There are, of course different types of peacocks.

Now, I have nothing against making clothing, accessories and such from an animal AFTER it’s deceased, but obtaining their skin and feather while they’re alive? NO. THAT’S DISGUSTING AND CRUEL.

I have seen many cases (back when I was a child in China) when animals are skinned alive, with no sedatives what so ever. I never actually thought of anything back  then, because I was still a kid…However, I still cringed at the sight of the bare skinned creatures. 

Anyways, so Burberry stated that the feathers were imported from India. However, a member of parliament, Meneka Ghandi stated that the exports of Peacock feathers are BANNED from India.

She also stated that “Peacocks are killed in their thousands in India and smuggled abroad to be made into fashion accessories.”

HOWEVER

Burberry was required for clarification and they admitted that the feathers actually came from China.

We all know what goes on in China. Factory farming, ripping feathers from live birds, skinning live animals…etc. and from these, China has received a lot of criticism and accusation.

On the side note: I don’t know why some people are completely blaming China for this. I mean, in this kinds of situation,

It takes two to tango. What I mean is There are almost always more than one source of problems. 

If no one buys, NO ONE would sell. China is obviously NOT doing this for fun. They need a living too.

Anyways, back to Burberry.

“The Burberry brand may be well known for its plaids, but what it should be known for is a long track record of promoting cruelty to animals, drowning, strangling and electrocuting animals on factory fur farms and now paying to have feathers ripped out of peacocks’ sensitive skin by the fistful,”  Peta – Animal Rights Charity

I do love some of the products by Burberry, some are gorgeous. 

I don’t know about any other animal cruelty products by Burberry, however, I think that when they purchased the feathers, they most likely knew what was going on. 

Really, the stuff that China is doing is not exactly hidden in the shadows. Even most citizens knew that.

I mean, back in 2009, China was found to be plucking feathers off of live geese BY HAND leaving the geese open wounded.

Wounds are made when ripping the feather off…

Now, this is what I’m guessing happened when they ripped the feathers off of peacocks. If not, even more cruel.

WHY ARE THESE POOR BIRDS BEING PLUCKED LIVE?

MONEY. Because the feather quality deteriorates quickly, the ones plucked from live birds are worth more.

Despise all of this, I find that it was very sketchy how Burberry changes  the source of the feathers from India to China after it was proven that the export of feathers was illegal in India.

Burberry also states on their website that the coat was made”100 per cent farmed golden peacock feathers, India”.

I recently went on to their website and here is what I found:

I don’t think anyone in their right mind is buying that any time soon. Hopefully.

I mean, I LOVE to look good. I absolutely love fashion! But I’m not looking to put animals’ lives at risk to obtain this. 

India, China…They should not be worn either way because it

would encourage more illegal trade and killing…and

people should be aware.

I’m not even ONLY criticizing Burberry.

It’s all the products out there. The pillows with feathers, fur coats…etc

I know Ikea has cancelled orders from China after they found out that the feathers were plucked from live birds under cruel conditions.

“China’s peacock farms can contain flocks of up to 10,000 birds, with each peacock typically kept with four or five peahens in a five square meter pen. At seven months, each bird is packed into a tiny bamboo cage and sent for slaughter.” – (http://www.ibtimes.co.uk)

China also sells their feather in bulk, for as little as 18.88 cents!

I don’t enjoy seeing animal cruelty so hopefully I won’t be ever again. (not very likely, I know.)

Sometimes, news like this really makes me think how animals are better than humans, because in the animal world a predator only hunts when it NEEDS to. However, we humans are filling ourselves with GREED.

However, the animal should not be suffering ANY pain.

Anesthetics, drugs should be offered to animals just like to humans. Even if it is in small amounts.

Every animals is different

Lots of people these days judge an animal by the breed. I don't think that's right. 

Yes, some personality of the breed may show, however, they would have their own personality. 

For example, Maltese are known to be quiet, gentle...etc but I had a friend who had a Maltese  and she is NOT quiet. She wasn't mistreated, or ignored or anything like that. Plus, she is not calm XD she's always jumping around..

Anyways, my point is, don't pick a pet based on breed. Actually meet the pet and play with him/her to determine if the pet is really for you :)

Dog obsessions @_@

Greetings everyone! 

Xin here, and as a typical animal lover, I would always check the daily animal news on the national geographic website,watch animal videos on YouTube  and  look at classified ads even though I'm not getting a pet -___- 

It's just becoming an obsession that I enjoy.___.

Anyways, recently I've became so obsessed with different breeds of dogs!! *_* SO FLUFFY AND CUTE!!

The American Eskimo 

American Eskimos are such good looking dogs!!! However, I can only dream to adopt one ;-; Even my mom (who doesn't like animals all that much) says that they look like they're so smart. They come in 3 sizes, toy, mini and regular....I always thought they looked like white Pomeranian, and it's so hard TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO WHEN THEY'RE PUPPIES!!

Can you tell the difference? IT'S HARD!!

The papillon

These cute dogs comes in flop eared and with ears that stands up. I always liked the flopped ears, but it seems like the upright ears are so much more popular because it looks like butterflies...? Anyways, these adorable puppies look like royalties with floppy ears >_< so totally adorable!!!

The Maltese 

I've always loved the Maltese's calm nature and how loving they are to their owners. I know, not all Maltese are the same, all dogs have different personalities, but the basic temperament is almost similar isn't it? I've seen some websites saying that dogs tend to adapt the personality of their owners. 

Well, I haven't seen dogs with the same personality as their owners, buuuuut, I've seen pictures of pets who LOOK LIKE their owners, and it pretty funny XD

HAHAHA, I like this one!! even their hair style is the same!!

Anyways, there are so many different breeds out there!!! and I enjoy all different breeds as long as they're friendly, loving and loyal ^_^
